well apparently compaq hasnt heard that there are virus’s out there that may destroy a partition. I recently went thru a serious crash on my old compaq presario 700 notebook. the partitions went dead and i had to reinstall the whole pc.
when i purchesed this notebook it said it comes with a legal copy of windows xp home edition. but apparently that does stick with compaq support personal sally who told me that the recovery cd only works with the recovery partition on it dues being useless all together because the hd went blank via virus.
the actual answer compaq personal sally gave me is that i need to go and buy a new windows xp home edition os and install it on my notebook. didnt i already purchase the os? i got a friggin serial number but no cd’s?! does that sound reasonable to anyone? because of a virus i need to buy a new os because compaq didnt bother to think of the situation where the partitions go blank.
compaq is making me RE buy windows xp home because they dont have a better solution. this just makes me go illegal and download an iso off the net and use my key. but why should i break the law because compaq cant handle virus’s and malfunctioning hd’s.
Its the last time im going to buy any piece of hardware that has HP or compaq logo on it. you should be ashamed of yourselfs. this is fraud. i’ll just install linux on that and get it over with.thank you sally support personal chatID 10011011163846631947.

well appreantly this is a known fraud. the quickrestore cd is a freesbie. it contains NOTHING exept a bat file that intitiate an install from the hard drive!!!, they advertise you get a windows xp home with your pc but they dont actually give you the cd. they only preinstall it and you pay for a serial. this isnt the meaning of OEM. oem cds do come when you purchese it. Why do apple provide you with your operating system cds and they fucking cant.
more updates. appreantly, compaq has multiple personalitys. their support crew suggest i buy a new os, their website says i should use ‘hp operating cd’.
