I noticed an interesting thing today. I spent most of the day working none stop, achieving alot of work that i had left behind and overall doing good work. I had no idea why i was so concentrated until i noticed my msn messenger was closed.

What i had running was openpandora player that played good music in the background but no msn running. i didnt notice it wasnt running because it crashed sometime and i didnt see what the error was so i figured it was just another poor software i was testing that crashed and i went along.

at 4pm i found that i did alot of work and was super concentrated. Is MSN messenger or other IM so intrusive that it breaks your line of thought and lower your productivity so much?, I heard about company’s that prevent IM clients to be installed or connected. but in the dot.com era alot of company’s utilize IM clients to communicate between cubical and do offshore meetings and so on, so i had to install one here and apparently it actually lowered my productivity more then i imagined.

The funny thing is that when i happen to not be online at the messenger people actually take the time and call me to see if everything is alright and that im well, coz’ well i was offline at the msn messenger , i was probaby sick or abducted.

Then again the idea of me writing this post while at the office isnt helping productivity either? … run -> programs -> msn messenger live… click. screw productivity… hope the boss isnt subscribed to the rss
