Kevin rose tells the story how digg started. its actually pretty amazing. he started it all at elance.com with an idea and couple of bucks, he opened a bid, hired a progammer and the rest is history. that programmer Owen that did the project for him is today serving as the senior engineer at digg.com company. One amazing story.

What interesting is that kevin tells it was pretty cheap to launch digg.com, which takes me to my conclution that you dont need ANY huge vc to fund cars and drugs for you to launch your website but afew hundered bucks from your dad or somethin and a good idea. thats exectly my way of work. i work at a day job that funds the elance/rac projects hopefully one will pickup and replace my fulltime job.
