Heres an excellent and amazingly simple article on how to recover your lost crashed hd data and move it to a new hd and then extract data from it.
Uses debian or k\ubuntu you need to stick that crashed hd into a linux machine and run ddrescue on the failing partition. it can copy the whole partition on a healthy drive and then mount the iso image for you to recover data from it.
WOohoo!!!, Now all i need is a spare machine, 5 hours of installing linux and im good!, What will a person do for a few mp3’s and porn movies. Paris here i come!
