Here is an effective way to advertise your mobile application. I sat infront of my pc just doing my regular day job when i saw someone in my messenger list connected via mobile device and the avatar was Mig33.com Logo , It made me check the domain and i found this one nifty and lightweight application Java based that lets ya connect to MSN Messenger network and Yahoo and their Mig33 network with breez.
I started the download process by entering my international phone number in the website and i got a system message to my phone with the wappush link to download a small lightweight 60k jar file that installed.
The install went ok on my Nokia 6280, Although after the install and registration you need to activate the product in order to buy and use their Online sms service and such they haven’t done a smart install process. To activate the product you receive an activation code that i CANT access because the application is still on, Unlike Symbian application java application cannot run alongside other activities so i couldn’t see the activation code that i received and i had to shut down the application, Read the SMS and then write the code somewhere and re run the app and insert the code.
Wouldn’t it be easier to make some http tunnel auth or open a browser inside the app to reveal the code in wap page?, Anyhow after i did that i configured my msn messenger and ran the app. The contact list took awhile to build up but when it did finally i enjoyed a nice little Messenger mobile client with some nice features and simple way to install and configure it.
I give 5 thumbs up for Mig33 Client, Although i just use the messenger benefit of it the client itself has alot more then just MSN Messenger mobile. You can activate a Voice call using their VOIP network over the 3G network to initiate a skypout like service with cheap rates to any international number or send sms. Amazingly you can even “throw” the call to a landline near you to stop using their voip and move to a regular phone after you initiated the phonecall (Jaja?) or Send cheap sms as i wrote earlier.
Overall , its a really really functional client that i would def’ use for my Mobile Messenger routine and i just might try that international calls sometime.
